The short version
We collect only what we need to run TEXTPET. We never sell your personal data. Screenshots you upload are never stored on our servers. You can delete everything we hold about you in one click at https://textingtype.com/account.
Who is responsible for your data
TEXTPET is operated by StudyTaco, based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. If you have any question about your data, email sarah@studytaco.com.
What we collect
Depending on how you use TEXTPET, we collect:
- Your email address.
- Your quiz answers, including the partner type you choose.
- Your animal results.
- A checkout consent record: the time you agreed to the trial and subscription terms, and which version of the disclosure text you saw.
- Your subscription status, which Stripe sends to us.
- Names and relationships of "saved people" you add, if you choose to add any.
- Writing samples you paste to calibrate your voice, if you choose to add any.
- Product analytics events, such as which pages you visit and which buttons you click.
Conversations and screenshots
When you paste a conversation or upload a screenshot to the reply tool, we send it to Anthropic's API to generate a draft reply. This content is processed in memory to produce the reply. Screenshots are never stored on our servers.
Please only share conversations you have the right to share. Our Terms of Service say more about this.
How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Show you your quiz results and pairing report.
- Draft replies for you in the reply tool.
- Process your payment, start your free trial and manage your subscription.
- Send you transactional emails, such as your receipt and the reminder before your first charge.
- Answer your support requests.
- Understand how people use TEXTPET so we can improve it.
- Measure whether our advertising works.
Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers who help us run TEXTPET:
- Anthropic, which powers the AI that drafts replies.
- Stripe, which processes payments. We never see your full card number.
- Resend, which sends our transactional emails.
- Vercel, which hosts the site.
- Meta, through the Meta Pixel, which measures whether our ads lead to sign-ups. You can opt out through your browser settings or your Meta ad preferences.
We never sell your personal data. We may disclose data if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal request.
Some of these providers are located outside Canada, mainly in the United States, so your data may be processed there and be subject to the laws of that country.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to run the site, remember your progress, collect analytics events and support the Meta Pixel. You can block cookies in your browser, though some parts of TEXTPET may stop working if you do.
How long we keep your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your data, we delete it within 30 days, except for records we have to keep for tax or legal reasons, such as payment records.
Your choices and rights
- Delete everything: click "Delete my data" at https://textingtype.com/account or email sarah@studytaco.com. Deleting your data also cancels any active subscription.
- See or correct your data: email sarah@studytaco.com and we will send you what we hold.
- Opt out of ad measurement: use your browser settings or your Meta ad preferences.
- Emails: we send transactional emails only, such as receipts, trial reminders and replies to your requests.
Depending on where you live, you may have other rights under local privacy law, such as the right to complain to a privacy regulator. We will honour those rights.
Security
We use encryption in transit, limit who can access our systems and rely on well-established providers. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep the email account you use with TEXTPET secure and tell us right away if you think something is wrong.
Age
TEXTPET is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe we have, email sarah@studytaco.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, email you.
